What you need to know about Ficht & ETEC Software
The software for the Ficht motors is available in 2 formats: 
PC based and Palm pilot based.

PC based users have two choices:
 I]  For Ficht motors from '97 thru current: 
Software -V1.42b The laptop needs operating system of windows 95, 98 or ME. It will not work well with XP or 2000. The laptop also needs a standard 9 pin serial port (not USB although most high quality USB-Serial port adapters will work). A printed copy of the manual is available. 
Hardware - serial/motor interface cable.
 II]   ETEC  and  Ficht motors from 2000 to current  
Software -V2.3 The laptop needs any windows operating system. The laptop also needs a standard 9 pin serial port (not USB although most high quality USB-Serial port adapters will work).  The users manual is built in with help files.

Palm Pilot  is for 2000 & newer Ficht and ETEC. 
Software -V2.1+update  Palm must have Palm OS 4 or OS 5 and needs to support a standard 9 pin serial port (not USB). We have had good results with the Palm Vx & the Sony Clie
